Phil, a young shepherd, doesn’t want to take part in the Second World War. However, like all the young people in 1943, he has to go to his ‘Service du Travail Obligatoire’ (Compulsory Work Service) in Germany. He hasn’t shown up and he is now considered as a recusant. Alone, without weapons, he flees and finds himself with the Germans on his heels. Phil becomes a war hero in spite of himself…
