Chikeezing

My 1st Feature film
Chikeezing is a tender coming-of-age tale set in a quaint hill station, following young Chikya (Gautam), a curious and dreamy but mischievous boy from a poor village. Saturdays are his favourite, when he and his sister Tayadi accompany their mother to a posh residential school where she works. Chikya is mesmerized by the school’s grandeur — the marching band, the big iron gate, the students’ uniforms — all a world away from his cramped, rundown village school.
Despite being constantly turned away by the school guard, Chikya dreams of stepping inside. His days are filled with small joys and quiet struggles — from collecting firewood with Tayadi, to watching others enjoy Diwali crackers they can’t afford, to hoarding colourful stones and odd trinkets in his schoolbag. Some kind neighbours offer small gestures of support, while the forgettable history of his late father subtly shadows their lives. When he is turned away and feels rejected, a scarecrow is his close confidante to pour his heart out.

After Diwali, memories of the school parade spark a bold idea in Chikya’s mind. He begins a mysterious plan, gathering things from a waste collector, strange things like babul gum, a stick, and even using money given by his mother to repay debts. What is his plan? Will he succeed?
Blending innocence, determination, and wonder, Chikeezing leads to a moving climax, celebrating the quiet resilience and imagination of childhood.
