An interrogation takes place on October 6, 2027. A family – consisting of Hanna, her daughter Ester (age 9) and Hanna’s mother Ann-Britt – tells an interrogator about a terrifying event during a drive to the family’s cabin.
On a deserted forest road, they are caught on a surveillance camera belonging to an AI drone, which quickly turns off the car after reading that Ann-Britt has a lot of money. Soon after, they see a girl who looks exactly like Hanna’s dead daughter Julia, who passed away when Ester was two years old. Julia speaks to them, claiming to miss her family and trying to convince them that she is real.
Hanna is torn between sadness, desperation and suspicion, while Ann-Britt warns that this cannot be true. The situation becomes more and more panicky as Julia tries to interact with Ester. Finally, “Julia” glitches and disappears, suggesting that she is a digital or artificial creation.
