Adja is an 18-year-old woman. In the days following her final exams, she is about to experience emancipating events that will confront her with herself. Selective memory, generational trauma—these elements will intertwine for Adja, who will face family secrets that she must unravel on her own.
Ntortor is a dive into both the present and past of Adja. The central theme of the film, as well as the peripheral elements, is Adja’s circumcision, which she underwent as a child and does not remember. It is truly her future that is at stake, and for which Adja will have to fight.
