Markus, a slightly awkward but warm-hearted man in his forties, receives a shocking diagnosis: a rare disease will kill him the moment he falls asleep. As he comes to terms with his death sentence, he’s overwhelmed by memories of moments where—through his constant urge to be nice—he has unintentionally contributed to both suicide and theft.
He returns to his everyday life, where encounters with his busy wife, inattentive children, and the home’s routines make him begin to see the extraordinary in the ordinary. With a six-pack of Red Bull in hand, Markus tries to figure out how to survive without sleep—and how to tell his family that he might not be here tomorrow.
