VICTORIA – We don’t get along

Best Music Video
VICTORIA’s new music video reveals how social media’s beauty standards and the pressure for popularity create an illusion of perfection, emphasizing that true beauty comes from our unique differences.
The music video for VICTORIA’s song “WE DON’T GET ALONG (Crumbs of a Modern Tragedy)” addresses the pressures of social media and beauty standards that drive artists to conform and imitate each other. It critiques the superficiality of popularity and success while celebrating individuality.
The video tells the story of an influencer school called “Digital Grave,” where “students” learn to present themselves using their most essential tools: phones and selfie sticks. At the start of their journey, each “student” receives a vacuum-sealed package containing their self-promotion toys as part of their “starter kit.”
Their world revolves around the use of these devices, even during workouts. Students are also trained to promote and sell products, navigating a curriculum that includes a “Body Perfection Test” assessing weight and facial dimensions to fit the ironic ideal of perfection required to be legitimate influencers.
The school is staffed by women and girls wearing beauty masks, symbolizing the lack of personality and anonymity prevalent in online engagement. This dynamic serves as a stark reminder of the sacrifices made for the sake of an image. Metaphorically, the lyrics of “We Don’t Get Along” represent the complicated relationship between VICTORIA and this influencer school, particularly with its director, who embodies the corporate world.
This project aims to convey a powerful message about the negative impact of societal expectations on personal authenticity. It illustrates how the quest for likes and follower counts can overshadow true artistic expression.
