2042 – Pictures of destroyed landscapes characterize the daily news. In the last ten years, the death rate of trees has rapidly increased. A new technology is supposed to undo the damage caused to the environment as entering the local forest is suddenly strictly prohibited. Noelle, a 13-year-old girl, and her father suffer from the consequences of this exhausted world. In their apartment water is scarce and highly restricted by the government. Therefore, Noelle finds herself going into the forest to fill up canisters from the nearby water stream. When an unexpected tragedy threatens to tear the family apart, the forest is Noelle’s last retreat.
